Small island that stands out the most is Košljun, mostly known by franciscan monastery which contains more than 30000 books and exists more than 6 centuries, and it is also a Forrest Nature Reserve and cultural monument. Small island Prvić and the north-east, abrupt part of the Island of Krk are the home of the griffon vulture, and the world’s first ornithological griffon vulture preserve is found on the island Krk in 1969. Island Krk also has a rich history. It is considered that the Croats inhabitated it in late 6th or early 7th century. Besides different historical objects found on the island, there are many drywalls (gromače) and Illyrian, Roman, Bizanthyne and Venethian remainings, that witness the islands early population. In a small village called Jurandvor, near Baška, a very significant glagolitic monument is found – Bašćanska ploča, which dates back to the year 1100.
Besides many sights, flora and fauna, horseback riding, 300 kilometers of hiking and bicycling paths (60 kilometers of path is near Šilo), on the island is also a wakeboarding ski lift, that also has its own wakeboarding school for people with physical disabilities.

All of the above, and much more, makes the Island of Krk and Šilo ideal for each type of holiday.
